The three-part performance Smoke Screens, created by Renaud Wiser and Patricia Okenwa, drew the spectators into a world of movement and mixed reality by having the dancers share their experience with the audience. The first part allowed spectators to engage with the dancer in an immersive and playful art project using virtual reality. The use of digital media was then staged in two performances in which dancers made use of video and electronic devices to reflect on notions of identity in our digitalised world. To the rhythm of original soundtracks by Oliver Coates and Geoff and James Holroyde, the bodies came into contact, collaborated and separated in intense power games, coherently highlighting each dancer’s individuality as well as their dynamism as a group.
