In the heart of Shoreditch, London, St. Leonard’s Church was the perfect location for Peter Stürm’s production based on F. Dostoevsky’s tragic satire Demons, an intricate plot presenting torn characters fighting their personal battle for survival in a politically unstable setting. The theatrical adaptation of Demons was the result of a challenging and thorough study of the venue’s potential: the audience was fully engaged in moving around as the play took place in different parts of the church. This interactive approach placed the public on the same level as the actors; not just mere spectators, but close enough to feel the tensions and dynamics produced. The fabulous actors on stage included British actor Jeffery Kissoon and young Swiss talent Laura Sophia Becker.
