Marc Bauer’s project for Frieze Art Fair was the result of an interactive research process. In collaboration with the Peckham Platform, Marc Bauer organized a workshop with young adults, during which he questioned the meaning and role of masculinity, femininity, (gender) identity and stereotypes in our contemporary society. The discussions with the participants at the workshop served as inspiration for Bauer’s installation at Frieze, a selection of drawings and film references focusing on how historical narratives and collective and individual memory relate to stereotypes, power and ideological systems.
