DeciBells XXL and Swiss composers Furrer, Holliger, Jarrell, Kuhn, Kutterer, Mayer-Spohn, Melchiorre, Vassena The Fund was happy to support DeciBells XXL and Swiss composers for the 4th edition of the London Ear Festival, which presents world-class musicians performing works that reflect recent developments. Some of these are not yet widely represented in the UK. DeciBells are a convergence of nine percussionists and one pianist whose express purpose is to combine the conventional with the unexpected and the archetypical with the inventive. Throughout the Festival, works by the above-mentioned Swiss composers were included in five concerts. A special aspect of the Festival was the London Ear Education Project. A primary aim of the Festival is to make young children aware of contemporary music, and of the fascination and joy to be found in listening to it and participating in it. The Education Project aims to promote to children the idea that musical creativity is a fundamental part of human experience, potentially relevant to everyone.
